Lucila Mariani is a filmmaker based (and from) Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Her first short film, “Wekwaindu” (2018) was selected at BFI’s Future Film Festival 2018.
“Resonancias” (Echoes, 2019), her second short film, had its premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and was selected at New Directors/New Films (organized by MoMA and Film at Lincoln Center) and in BAFICI.
Her latest short film, “Luna que se quiebra sobre la tiniebla de mi soledad” (Moon that cracks over the darkness of my loneliness, 2022) premiered at 75th Locarno Film Festival in the International Competition - Pardi di Domani.
She’s developing her first fiction feature, "Los días libres", selected in La Fabrique Cinema (Festival de Cannes, 2023), sponsored by Fundación Carolina to participate in the Curso de Desarrollo de Proyectos Audiovisuales (Programa Ibermedia, 2023), in Concurso Federal Raymundo Gleyzer (INCAA, 2021), Working Sessions - Punto Género (2021, Ventana Sur), and Foro de Co-producción de San Sebastián (where it won the ArteKino prize), EAVE Puentes (2023) and IzañaLab (2024) where she had mentorship by Théo Court and Estibaliz Urresola. The film is supported by INCAA, Ibermedia, Mecenazgo Cultural and ANCINE.
Lucila participated in the Locarno Filmmakers Academy (2023) alongside a select group of young filmmakers.
